Amarkantak
and Dindori Forests: view
Photo Gallery
Arguably
the largest and perhaps the best sal forest belt in the country
is an unknown but potentially the finest nature tourism destination.
Amarkantak is the source of the sacred Narmada and Son rivers
and is a well known pilgrimage site. The breathtaking views, colourful
birds and butter flies, resplendent wildlife, enriched by gond
and baiga cultures, make an ideal mix of values a nature lover
requires. The Board plans to develop it as a major trekking destination
in the near future.
